- Born February 3, 1952, Chicago. Raised in El Monte, Ca. Graduated El Monte High.
- Attended University of Southern California 1970-73. (1996 into USC Hall of Fame)
- (On NCAA Championship Team all three years)
- Member of the 1971 Pan Am Team
- Drafted by the Red Sox in 1973 and played for the following teams:
- 1974-80 Boston Red Sox
- 1981-84 California Angels
- 1985-88 Baltimore Orioles
- 1988-89 Detroit Tigers
- 1990 San Diego Padres

- 1972, 1973 All American (MVP ’72 USA College All Stars vs Japanese All Stars)
- 1975 Rookie of the Year
- 1975 MVP of American League (first player ever to win both in same year)
- 1975 AP Male Athlete of the Year
- 1979 American League Batting Champion
- 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980 - Four time Gold Glove recipient
- 1975 through 1983, Nine time All Star, 1983 All Star MVP
- 1982 MVP of the American League Championship Series
